Middle School

At Hendricks, our Middle School curriculum embraces the strengths and challenges of adolescence and is designed to prepare our students academically, physically, emotionally, and socially for their teen years. This instills in them the confidence they need to excel in high school and beyond.

Coursework encourages student inquiry, investigation, discovery, and prepares students for problem solving and critical thinking both in and out of the classroom.

The STEM acronym was first coined by the National Science Foundation in the early 1990s. The term STEM applied to any policy, event, curriculum, or education program dealing with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, but mainly focused on Science and Mathematics. The importance of integrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics is quickly becoming a priority in K-12 education and at colleges and universities in both undergraduate and graduate programs. STEM education is evolving into an integrative curriculum aimed at preparing students for the challenges of the 21st century. We are improving our curriculum by adding more opportunities to advance the STEM areas and adding additional Arts areas as well. We hope that this year’s offerings for SMART classes will just be the springboard to increased depth and dimension to the education at Hendricks.
